Was just wondering how useless it'll be to watch the broadcast. I'm on the West Coast and may try anyway cause I want to rewire myself to be an early bird.
Can't wait from Nairobi Kenya to see our ambassadors crushing the roads of Chicago... Exactly 3hrs to the race from Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
Go! Go go !
ICE will be waiting at the finish line. If you dare to finish ahead of top Americans, they will place you under arrest. Good luck racing in El Salvador for the rest of your life.

Of course. Only American citizens should be allowed into American races - that is what America first really means. Our taxes (not that we should be paying any) go to support these races - foreigners out, or deport them before the finish line. ICE should be stationed at he end of the bridge (before the turn to the finish) to direct non-citizens (we know what they look like) to buses for deportation.
Its just under 3 hours until the start and I'm preemptively upset about the excessive wheelchair coverage.
Came here to say this. Woke up early feeling excited to watch Kiplimo rip it up, but now I realize I may not see any of his race until the halfway mark.
I remember watching US Oly trials marathon a few years ago and it being such a pleasant viewing experience. Then I realized it was because there were zero wheelchairs to take up an hour of airtime.

No hope as it is broadcast by a local station and human interest is their priority and not the elite raise. I will just grin and bear it and hope Mantz runs 2:03:45

chicago notoriously provides the worst coverage year on year which is quite the feat considering how bad all marathon coverage is

Yeah, local coverage can be a bit lacking. In 1984, the Chicago CBS outlet covered the race. A mobile unit was at 18M with a live feed of the race. I saw the 18M split and told Phil Walters (a Chicago political reporter) that Steve Jones was on world record pace. Walters immediately got on the air and shouted, "They tell me Jones is on world record pace!"
Great moment in that race. Jones had turned up the gas and De Castella and Carlos Lopes had shocked looks on their faces. They were getting blasted.

added in marathon handbook. If we are giving free advertising to competitors, why not give it to them all.
