He's running Chicago on Sunday. Any chance he gets the AR - not Mantz? He ran 2:08 in Boston.
Kiptoo has ZERO chance of getting the US record in the marathon. Mantz also has ZERO chance. These guys are not good enough. Not sure why this isn’t obvious to everyone.
So Kiptoo became a citizen on Sept. 2. I assume he filed with USATF shortly after. So they announce he’s the US late Sat night before the marathon. Clown show stuff.

The current official AR isn’t out of reach for Mantz if he has the ideal day. Kiptoo seems to be less unknown but he says he’s aiming for 2:06.
Is he the guy that used to always wear gloves when he raced? Iowa State, I think?
Yep. I think he went out in 4:10 the first mile of NCAAs back when he and the NAU dudes and Mantz were battling it out for XC titles... wild stuff. Haven't heard his name in a while.

Lmao Same way rojo was just nitpicking Lagat not actually being a Kenyan in the Olympics. You guys can't hate on immigrants both ways. In one case lagat was American but competed for Kenya in this case kiptoo is American and may or may not set an American record.

If Mantz and Kiptoo are close to each other at any time during the race, will the broadcast even know about their race within a race? Hope so …
