Nike Pegasus 2006 - Runs Big and Way Different Feel

The 06 Pegasus certainly does feel different from the 05. It feels much heavier and chunkier than the prevous model but doesn't have that super soft feeling that the 2000 and 2004 models did. It'll be interesting to see how pegasus fans react to the 2006. To me, nothing beats the 2002 model!

I just got back from my run and I have to completely agree with your assessment. I am highly disappointed in the feel. It really does feel clunky and heavy and I also noticed that it was not nearly as soft as the 2002 and 2004 models. Also like I said in my first post the front has an odd feel with this toe-off support in the shoe and felt really lumpy in the front.

This was my first run in the shoe and I put in 10 miles. It does need more breaking in time but I think this is the worst Pegasus yet. So disappointed.

I have a brand new pair of '06 Pegasus sitting in my closet....i found the same thing...the changes they made to the shoe are not good....

If you like Nike...I am now running in the Air Vomero...which are very soft, but they wear quickly

There is a picture of them on Finishline.com. Just search for the Nike Pegasus. I talked to two others who are faithful Pegasus wearers who also got the 2006 and hate them too. Guess I will be trying the Vomero.

I dont understand the changes to these at all. Why continue to change the design when so many runners liked the earlier versions and they sold very well.

My complaint is the material on the uppers is ridiculous. There is way too much going on for no reason which just adds to the clunkiness of the shoe. I noticed that my feet got extremely hot in these due to all the material and lack of breathability. I was really looking forward to the new model too. I should have known.

MUA HA HA, I found a picture. Finally, they're reallllly ugly. and they look pretty clunky. Here's the link, I'm sticking with the Vomero's. I think the 05's are going to be considered better then dees, and that's not a good thing.

The first zoom elites were probably my favorite shoes of the past 28 years of wearing Nikes. The vomeros are pretty good. THe sizing is wacky for sure. they should get consistant. I'm really liking the 2005 Pegs.

The 05 Pegs are horrible, horrible shoes. Nike has even admitted that they designed a dog.

I have been wearing Pegs for 6 years now and this was the only update that forced me to buy only one pair.

They need to add a few more swooshes.

If you liked the old Zoom Elites, give the DS Trainer a try.

first of all i really doubt that nike admitted to creating a dud. if you actually knew the direction nike was taking their running line you would know that it will be improving from the hole it has been in over the last few years. i used to call the pegasus the marshmallow shoe because it was too soft, but then they came out with the vomero - WAY too soft! a firmer pegasus is a step in the right direction for any serious runner. you're probably just some weekend warrior that thinks a softer shoe will help your plantar fasciitis too.

not saying the new peg looks good or that the overlays couldn't be reduced, but a smoother foot bed and a firmer ride are a step in the right direction.

by the way, anyone try the new nimbus, now that is an awesome shoe!

Personally I think the 2005 Pegs aren't bad. I'm a neutral midfoot striker and they feel good in that way. I like a firm feel and a firmer upper, which it has. I'd like to try some in a narrow fit, but these are harder to find in Canada.

The biggest problem I have with the 05 Pegasus is that the damned forefoot air unit keeps popping. Squeak, squeak, squeak...damn! Then my achilles starts hurting until I can get another pair.

I've had 6 pairs of the '05 pegasus and have to say I have had no problems at all, people say they are firm but compared with the brick like '02 wich was absoloute shite they are quite cushy. I didn't like the '04 as it collapsed in a few weeks of 100+ miles. I can get 500-600 miles on a pair of '05's, they are good value.

I like the '05's too, infact I better stock up before these 2006 shitters come out...

I am the original poster and seriously the 2005 is a way better feel. This 2006 model is the worst Pegasus release yet. No joke I am seriously going out to buy a couple pair of the 2005s before they are gone. Guess my 2006 become my lawn mowing shoes.

Someone mentioned that they are going to a firmer shoe, well I thought they actually achieved that in the 2005 model. The way they tried to firm up the 2006 is really weird. The toe-off support is really strange feeling and the shoe feels like the height of the front of the shoe is as high as the back of the shoe. And the entire front feels LUMPY. It feels like you have a big brick on your foot!

Also there is so much stitching and unnecessary material on this new pegasus and I dont really understand why they would do that to a shoe that is supposed to be part of the Bowerman series. Completely unnecessary.

I know the Pegasus 2006 has been out for a while now. Does anyone else have any opinions on the new model. It looks like a majority of the people who havbe tried them feel that Nike blew it on the update.

Nike running website is really trying to hype the new model too. More opinions would be appreciated.
