Legit act of kindness or staged social media stunt: Runner's shoe pops in Berlin/man gives him his shoes - all on film

Think it’s real but the odd part is his decision only to take the one shoe, forcing himself to have to jog/walk the last 4K when his other shoe blew up. Why would he have chosen to run from 10k on in one old, suspect shoe and one brand new shoe, when the owner of the new pair is offering both? Too weird not to be true.

It's real and a touching story until you get to the comments where he's 'blaming nike / asking them to "do something" (@Nike please help!) ie give him a freebie after his 6 year old shoe disintegrated. C'mon man. No sensible person would expect a shoe to hold up for a key race.

Running marathons myself has restored faith in humanity a few times. But I wouldn't blame the shoe here.

What I find unbelievable is, that the guy used an 6 year old running shoe for a Marathon.

I wouldn't use that one for garden work.

7 year old actually, I believe. The VF4 Flyknit released in October 2018. Really not sure what he expected to happen.

I wouldn't run much over 3,000 miles per running shoe, so I go through 1-2 pairs of shoes a year typically, but I have raced in the same marathon shoes for quite a few years without any issue. The issue comes in when you train in them as well. Then they deteriorate rapidly.
