How is it possible the OTC NSAIDs are a $22 billion industry in just the US, and they're effectively worthless? It's hard for anyone to quantify this (and the pharma companies count on that) but 90% of their value to the individual comes from the placebo effect. Have a headache? Drink a glass of water and go for a walk. And if you need an actual painkiller? There's a reason why you need a prescription. Because those actual work.
