The first cover I can think of was when hillbillie Dick Justice covered "Cocaine" in 1928, that was a song by bluesman Luke Jordan from 1927.
Apparently back then you could buy the stuff in a drug store.
Back then most white folks wouldn't listen to race records. It was jungle music.
Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys would be proud
Howlin' Wolf classic
Brian Jones was a huge fan of them blues, actually all the Stones were, once read they had just as soon played nothing but them blues but no $$$$$ in it.
Keith Richards talks about hanging out in a Mississippi juke joint being the only white cat there.. He never had a better time or so he said.
Some inspired stuff here -

"Yeah, Shining like Gold."
Cover of a Little WIllie John song
Another by The Cramps, covering the Count Five original

KEXP is the big alternative rock station in town and a a stational of national renown. This concert from 10 years ago was a tribute to their opening in a new facility, and features some heavywieghts of the Seattle scene including Mark ARm, Mike Mcready, and Duff McKagan.
It turns out that while i don't know any of them personally, I do know several people who know some of them well and even pay with them.
While these are covers of Iggy and The Stooges songs, they stand on their own quite well, imo.
Instead of football and music when are you going to post something about your own running life? Do you run anymore?
