He at least has a one year record of paying people, which is more than GST can say. Of course, his budget is also smaller, which might say something about whether GST's plans were ever really viable.
After the GST 1st meet didn't go that well I didn't like the gloating from Athlos and one of the original Diamond League founders. I want track to succeed.
Now I'm fine with it.
As for a single sex meet, financially it might make more sense to limit the # of athletes you're paying. Plus, women sports is hot right now from a marketing perspective and Alexis has experience with it with LAFC and his wife.
It helps when he and his wife have a combined net worth of ~$0.5 billion and they also have reputations that wouldn’t repel investors. I wonder if he’s having to put in any personal money or it’s totally paying for itself?
Actually I just had a great idea. I call it: The Letsrun track meet series.
A limited number of meets. A small number of events in each. Some deviations from the usual script: e.g. one 1 v 1 races (like Mondo vs Warholm but for events the athletes actually train for). Slightly unusual events, e.g. 1500m with a hill finish. A couple of 400m champs racing 800m champs over 550m. And so on.

No reason every meet has to have both sexes.
it's been socially acceptable to do women's only type events for quite awhile. not quite as true for men anymore. though there are obviously things that mostly only men are interested in, and things that mostly only women are intersted in. Track is not that, but then again, it's something that almost nobody cares about at all.
just imagine a men's only track meet, marketed as such with misogynistic or male centric music, crowns for the winners and great pay that the women don't get to take part in. obviously there's no market for such a thing and you certainly can't hype up a guy power type of theme. nobody wants it. it's not socially acceptable. etc
just chalk it up into the pro column for not everything has to be equal, the same, fair, all the time. bla bla.
Speaking of Athlos, I see they've filled out the lineups of their remaining distance events, the 800 and mile. They've gotten rid of Welteji in the latter -- obviously. But I'm disappointed with the late additions, which leave Hiltz as the only American in either event. E.g., given her terrific PR the other day, Sage Hurta-Klecker would have been a great add to the 800, especially since she's from NY. I hope it was a matter of her turning them down rather than them not asking her.
