Melissa Jefferson-Wooden has flown well below the radar, given her accomplishments this year. She's not controversial like Sha'Carri, or a showman like Noah Lyles, or glamorous like Sydney. But man, her performances...
She now has the 4th fastest 200m of all times, and her 21.68 into a slight headwind actually translates to the third fastest when correcting for wind and altitude. Her 100m performances this year have her squarely in the conversation to potentially break FloJo's record. She only turned 24 this year, so her prime is ahead of her. Her progression indicates that she is not yet peaking. She broke through to become the best 200m runner by a fair distance this year.
She is the only double-gold medalist in this year's championships, and she has completely dominated the conversation for the world's fastest woman. And she's done it with class. She deserves some love.
