Of course we all know that Josh Allen is from Firebaugh. See...I used to live there. I distinctly remember one evening when I was enjoying a beer on my couch. I looked outside and admired the tumbleweeds passing by as a pack of wild coyotes howled in the distance. Then there was a knock at my door. I didn't telling myself, "Probably some insurance salesman." My next thought, naturally, was of Josh Allen. "I hope he makes it. If he does, I don't care if he struggles in his early years and plays out-of-control. As long as a notorious poster on my favorite running message board refers to him as a 'well-oiled machine,' then I can die a happy man."
Wait a minute...that knock was *you* wasn't it? Now I regret not answering, as I could have thanked you well in advance for granting my dying wish well before my last days.
Mohomes is already a Hall of Famer. I heard that when Joe Montana was inducted, the man who gave his introductory speech said, "Ladies and Gentlemen: Joe Montana." I hope whoever induces Mahomes comes up with something shorter.
Caleb Williams will almost certainly not make it. Because he plays for the Bears, who have exactly 4 winning seasons in the past twenty years. The Packers, in contrast, have 14 winning seasons over the same time span. The Bears may have "won" the off-season, but...who cares? That's like saying "The Atlanta Flacons won the first three quarters of their Superbowl match up with the Patriots."
A better question is why college QB studs almost never become great in the NFL, whereas less heralded QBs seem to make it more often. Is it poor scouting? The differences in the game vis the skills that matter in the NFL and how they translate? Luck? Or something else. Arch Manning better get himself mentally prepared for his lackluster run as the Bears next savior, in any case.
