After no medals in 10k, steeple and 1500, you can add the 800 to the list as no one even made the final.
Brazier’s 1:43.82 misses out by .02. So cruel. I thought he was gonna get in.
It’s up to Hocker, Young and Fisher in the 5000.
I think we are seeing the effects of peaking for US champs in August in order to make the team and then having to peak again in mid Sept. It is just too long of a season
Brutal positioning and tactics from Brazier and Hoppel. Brazier should have pushed to front and held rail, Hoppel just never seemed to have the same pop this season.

No, I think we're seeing the effects of bad tactics. All of these race were the Americans getting themselves stuck on the rails and not having any room in the last 200m.
And replace it with some subjective selection? Ugh. Nothing beats an elimination game or meet, and the US championships is 2nd best meet in the world. Hocker, Nuguse, Kessler and Fisher had no problem in being their best at both the trials and Olympics last year.

Similar gap to the olympics just a little later in the year
Such high hopes for the Men's 800m event. The USA looked very strong. Unfortunately, it didn't work out and there will be no American even in the final. What happened?
American runners are showing they have tactical issues.
You know who else has "tactical issues"? Almost every other runner, most of the time.
Unless you are David Rudisha and can run 1:40.91 off the front, a middle distance runner needs to make multiple split second decisions that are really guesses, and sometimes they will work and sometimes they won't.
