I'm not a big Kerr fan, and I was not rooting for him. But I wanted to see someone beat a peak Kerr. This is just sad, and I feel bad for the guy. I was expecting a clash between Kerr, Laros, Wightman and Cheruiyot X2 (maybe Koech as well) in the final stretch, but that it just goes to show how unpredictable the 1500m and championship races are.
I thought it was a hammy, based on how he kept pulling to the left. Not sure why he finished, he stepped on the infield enough times to be DQ‘d until 2027.

Yeah, sad to see. Cruel sport. No interview here, but interesting to hear what happened
probably spiked, either way his next youtube video will be unbearable
Definitely wasn't spiked so it's a potentially very bad situation.
Did he cramp and pull a calf muscle? Possible. It's also possible he's broken his foot a-la Brazier there (looked very similar to Brazier in '22 hate to say).
Let's hope it's the former but it's definitely a non-contact injury.

Congratulations Ray Flynn for getting this guy a 10 year deal. This event has a new face every couple years. No one deserves a 10 year deal unless they are racing 20 times a year. Kerr will be taking Brooks money well past his best days.
It was in the 80s with 80% humidity ... maybe a cramp?
BBC reporting he couldn’t even walk up the stairs afterwards. I’m speculating more than a cramp. Hope it’s not a stress fracture in his foot. He is looking very lean (for him).

Peak arrogance? Sure. Peak fitness? Who knows. Didn’t show up to Pre. Doesn’t race much. How do we know?
I don't like Kerr at all, but I feel so sad for him. I didn't want him to go out this way, I was hoping for a super fast race and someone to beat him in a 3:28 or 3:29 type time. He is 27 and will be 29 when the Olympics arrive. He will end his career as "almost" as good as Steve Cram. Cram ended with 1 Olympic silver and 1 world cham gold, and one world record. The exact same thing Kerr has.

Yeah if it's a serious injury beyond just a cramp and pulled muscle than that's a genius move of foresight. When I heard about this deal I did kind of ask myself why Brooks would do this - he might get to LA but probably not (he will be close to 30). Guess they want him as an "ambassador" post career? Probably needed to just give him a corporate job and not a trust fund. Good for him though because yeah, not like they get a ton of exposure from him except for social media which is massively overrated in terms of reach and impact.
I think it's the calf muscle but it is all speculation right now of course. If it is, I hope it is a pulled calf and not a tear which requires a lot longer healing time. If it is a tear, it is a remarkable feat that he managed to finish. It was a courageous if not totally bright thing to do and I admire him for it.
i am definitely not a josh Kerr fan and I wanted him to be beat. But not injured. I hope he recovers well over the winter.
Said elsewhere, I reckon he was carrying an injury coming into Tokyo. He was probably hoping it would hold up just enough. I'm guessing Achilles or foot stress fracture, definitely lower leg. If the hamstring pops it's like getting shot in the leg, he wouldn't be able to run even slowly

I bet he'll say he hurt the calf in the fall in the semi, and then it seized up on him in the final. Which seems totally plausible, but won't be good optics for the Kerr haters.
