i found a great discussion from back in 2023 with his coach Dylan Armstrong (bronze in the shot in Beijing) on Ethan’s development:
Armstrong trained under Bondarchuk and implements his methods in Katzberg’s training. This seems to be primarily technique focused with most of the work being done in the field with minimal emphasis on the weight room
Armstrong emphasizes that Katzberg is very fast and coordinated but weak in the gym, something like a 175 bench and a 80-90kg snatch, and he never has him, at least as of 2023, squat more than 250lbs for quarter squats for fear of aggravating a knee issue. Presumably Ethan could put up better numbers in the weight room but his coach views this as potentially counterproductive, which he discusses in greater detail in the above podcast
