Did Gatlin & Crawford plot to lock Powell in his blocks?

I don't believe that Gatlin, Crawford, their coach, or some combination thereof would actually care enough to come up with a plan like that. Or maybe sprinters are that egotistical. Was there any money at stake for the fastest time of the day?

Crawford is an olympic gold medalist...I doubt he would do another runner (Gatlin) a favor when he, himself, wants to be #1.

Not much but from what I recall $5,000 for the overall winner once you combined the 2 heats.

i thought that was a great one as well.

Regardless of reaction time, Gatlin's time was superior due to lower wind.

I'd like to believe that our sprinters aren't that corrupt, I mean they seem like good guys. That is a smart plan though.

Even if it's true, Powell had an excellent jump. Gatlin was just plain faster. Simple as that.

Now if Gatlin was just plain smarter, and fire that dipshit agent of his (Nehemiah).

And 52 games later, Clemens signs to pitch for the Astros.

Just got around to watching the race yesterday. (God, how I love my DVR!) Looked like Crawford jumped just as soon as they got to the set position. It wasn\'t even close.

Hard to say that it cost Powell the race, but definitely looked like a smart, unselfish move by Crawford.

One thing I thought I noticed, I may be wrong (I'm sure someone will tell me), it sure looked like Gatlin ran through the tape and didn't ease up. Very peculiar for those sprinter types when not a lot is on the line. Powell eased up some right at the very end. No DVR here, could someone check that out?

Gatlin did run harder through the line but Powell didn't really ease up until about 96m. It wasn't worth .06 s especially with the stronger wind.

I think Gatlin would have takin that one head to head but you really don't know what Powell would have done with Gatlin in sight.

Gatlin runs very focused on hisself and what he has to do no matter the competition.

Powell seems to react more to the competion but I think has the potential to run faster if he just runs straight ahead, all out without any concern for the field.

Maybe we will see them head to head next year in the WC finals.
