Pole vault would have to be the first event if they ever did change over. Probably should be for the men's too, it's not safe doing that midway through the day after competing in other events first. Women have a better grasp of safety than men is what it is. That, and who wants to see the decline in standards that competing in more disciplines would bring? If anything, I would bring the men down to a heptathlon, rather than pushing the women up to a decathlon.
There have been some USATF sanctioned women's decathlon events recently, but they seem to be developmental to increase the number of participants and level of competition. This is the direction the heptathlon is going.
Might as well make the shot, hammer and javelins weigh the same while you're at it. Also raise the women's hurdles to the mens height, they hardly look like they actually have to jump.
