Frenchman Stéphane Mathieu, 53, will start running tomorrow at 2am from San Francisco City hall to New York City. Assisted by a 3 people team he will chase the 42 days 06 hours 30 minutes record by Pete Kostelnik (2016).
Solid runner with 30 years of ultrarunning experience. He should have a good go at this but I don't think he has any chance of getting close to Pete Kostelnick's record. He is too old and not fast enough for this.

Crossing in less than 42 days will be a very big challenge and of course he may fail but who knows the man knows he has some good chance to be successfull in NYC. At 53. For Day 1 he plans 150 K to 100 miles.

One of the biggest mistakes most make, is starting with big miles in the first days. He might not even make it through week one, with a 100 mile start day.

He is very comfortable with jogging 100 miles and that should not hav repercussions for the next days with normal mileage around 115 K.
