He’ll medal in the 5k at the absolute most, and even that is pushing it. I doubt he even makes it to the 1500 final.
People here genuinely think he has a chance of winning anything which is hilarious. He doesn’t even have a comfortable shot in the 5k let alone 1500 - he’ll still need to deal with Fisher, Young, and Hocker who will likely outkick him
plenty of recent examples of good performances coming off long lay offs. J Koech at USAs, Keely at Silesia, etc. There is a huge gap between him and the next closest at 5000. He'll win that.
Fully agreed with OP, but hope I am wrong. Would be pretty cool were he to come in really fit and spoil everyone’s day…. Maybe kicking from behind? Imagine that! (But it won’t happen)
He's been at altitude for at least the past 6+ weeks. Assuming he has gotten in 1-2 all out efforts, even if in training, to simulate race effort, I think he'll be ready to roll at Worlds.
😂. the 5,000 is Jakob’s, and the 1,500 should be crazy, but it all depends who leads and how fast the race is going into the final 500. The other racers main hope is to have Jakob do all the work.

I think he is going out in rounds. He hasn't even gotten in a tuneup race. And his competitors kicks have improved. Their endurance has improved too. Is Jakob ready to run under 328? Is he ready to close a 5000 in 51?
