MADRID, May 25 (CP) - The Spanish doping scandal that is currently dominating cycling headlines is reported to involve almost 200 riders of elite teams, Spanish and foreign.
The Civil Guard today reported that information has been found on 200 cyclists, of which many were caught on video when arriving at the apartment where blood-doping procedures took place.
Although no names have been released, a Civil Guard spokesman did tell newspaper El Pais that "you could say that most of the well known [Spanish] cyclists are on the list, except for Alejandro Valverde".
The police also found a large amount of forbidden products, including EPO and growth hormones.
The news comes on the day that Liberty Seguros announced to stop their sponsorship of the professional cycling team, as result of team manager Manolo Saíz arrest earlier this week.
Roberto Heras, the team's captain in 2005, lost his Vuelta title and was suspended in November after being caught using blood-doping.
