Yet again I am stoked for another Clayton Young docuseries. I loved Andrew Storer spotting Casey Clinger and Creed Thompson. Two of the best up marathon prospects in America, training with the 2 best marathoners in America.
Why would he want to run Worlds when he has no shot at medaling instead of getting an appearance fee at a fall major? Or does asics force him to do it since it’s in Tokyo and they’re a Japanese company?

It could be something along those lines - a lot of athletes also feel obligation to go there if their sponsor is based there, not always forced to go. He could have some shot at medalling if he goes hard and doesn’t suffer :)

I don't think a medal is out of the question. If he can drop a 2:08 during the champs he's in the running.

And judging by his recent workouts, he seems to be in the shape of his life.

He got 9th in the Olympics and Worlds is significantly less stacked in the marathon than the Olympics, as most of the very top marathoners will opt to run majors instead. He could definitely medal, especially if it’s a hot day where he’s shown he performs well.
He will be 32 years old on September 14th. Mormon history tells us he has 2 years left in the sport at an elite level. Tokyo is probably his last opportunity in a USA kit.

Berlin is typically late september, is there anything earlier he can run in 2027 before he falls off the cliff?

This is a stupid post and is wrong regardless of whether or not he makes the 2028 team. "Mormon history" doesn't tell us anything. Plenty of Mormons, including his own coach, have had long and successful careers. You don't get credit for guessing right with dumb rationale.
Conner Mantz and Clayton Young revived US men's marathoning. US men's marathoning was, 4 years ago, where US women's marathoning is today. They were able to stand out and drag it out of the doldrums.
There's tons of talent now entering the ranks at marathon and running really fast times. Times that 4 years ago would have been unthinkable. And talented guys are transitioning from the track with incredible times. Even just in the BYU camp, Casey Clinger, Creed Thompson, Joey Nokes, Aidan Troutner. And across the country, guys like Ryan Ford, Zouhair Talbi (naturalized), Matt Richtman, Biya Simbassa, Alex Maier, Joe Klecker, Hillary Bor, Charles Hicks, and more. So the 2028 field is going to be way more competitive than the 2024 field, and everyone recognizes there's a chance Clayton doesn't make that team.
It has nothing to do with "mormon history."

You can spew facts or you can look them up. According to World Athletics Coach Eyestone ran his marathon PB at 29 years old. Unless you were referring to his Coach as Jared Ward who serves as a wonderful sounding board for the guys. Jared ran his marathon PB at 30 years old.
I think if they have a really 'on' day both Young and Albertson could conceivably be in the mix for a medal.
I mean no disrespect to Albertson. But I don't think he's on the same level as Young at this point. They've raced 3 times, Albertson hasn't been within a minute of Young in any of the three times, and his PB is also a minute slower.
Young could conceivably medal with an amazing day. Albertson I think could medal if everyone else got food poisoning at the hotel.

Your arguments are so incomprehensibly bad it's hard to know where to begin.
First you're switching to goalposts to when will he run his PB. Earlier you said that Clayton wouldn't be running the sport at an elite level and that Tokyo was the last time he'd represent Team USA. You're not subtle. Ed Eyestone last represented the US at age 34, many years after making his debut. So the point you were trying to insinuate about "mormons", that they don't have a long competitive life, is not true.
Furthermore, even if I allow you to shift the goalposts just to humor your silliness for a moment. You're talking about a sample size of 2 whole runners. It's funny that it never crosses your mind that this isn't a significant sample size that you can extrapolate. Your entire argument is, because Jared Ward had some injury issues, Mormons can't have careers. It's not a good argument.
