Curious as to other peoples ideas on what workouts they would do if they had a week before the state meet in the 1600.
Day by day descriptions would be great.

I would put a box up to the window late at nite and peek! No I wouldn't! I would do hard sprints but just a few. Get a good sweat going but not enough to even get tired. Rest mostly
Assuming the race is on saturday:
Sunday: 80% of your long run easy.
Monday: 6 x 200 at goal pace (10-15 min warmup + cooldown)
Tuesday: 4 x 200 at goal pace (10-15 min warmup + cooldown)
Wednesday: 2 x 200 at goal pace (10-15 min warmup + cooldown)
Thursday: off
Friday: 25-30 min easy jog and strides
this worked for me in the 800 a few years back
Get a job and be on your feet training for it all week. That got me good and ready to feel flat at state my senior year.
Listen to your coach.
You should be tapering.
There is not much, if anything, you can do to improve your fitness level one week before a big race. On the other hand, if you try to do too much in the week before, it can hurt you by causing you not to be rested. Easy running (nothing long) and a few (4 or less) shorter intervals (no longer than 400 meters) during the week should be fine. You want to be rested and ready to explode come race day. Good luck.
Take the whole week off. I am not kidding. However, you will need to remain confident.
