Hocker and Nuguse are extremely inconsistent. Kerr as well. The guy with the best results overall is Jakob and probably will be for the next few years.

Jakob wasnt there.
No he wasn't, but he still remains the benchmark.
And I say this reflecting more on Nuguse who has been putting himself out there to win and run records, like Jakob. However, he has often fallen short like in his second indoor mile WR attempt, Pre Classic mile WR attempt, and now missing the podium in US Champs.
Kudos to him for trying, however, it is a very high benchmark.

The legs of Phanual Koech will cut short Jakob in any tactic.
Running 1:47:00 (800m) at the age of 17, prove he could be in shape 1:44 this year.
Provided the Kenyan are enough careful preparing their athletes.

Jakob is an all-timer, no question about that.
But today, Yared went out with Jakob's strategy that he executed in the last 3 major championship races, and had similar results.
If anything, I think it underscores that the field is so deep, simply outpacing everyone isn't going to cut it. Jakob was no more successful than Yared was today.
As a fan though, it really is a great era of the 1500 to be here for.

"Jakob was no more succesful than Yared was today"
Except that Jakob ran 3 seconds faster in the OG 1500m final.
A Jakob in good shape would have crushed the field yesterday BY FRONTRUNNING ALL THE WAY.
Front running 3:28-low with bad pacing after rounds is such an underrated performance. He may have choked by not defending his title and missing the podium, but physically that’s probably the most impressive 1500 he’s ever run. I think El G is the only other person in history who could’ve done that, and even he would’ve had to bring his A game.
A good way to put it in perspective is to ask yourself how high Wightman, Kerr, or Hocker would have placed had they swapped places with Jakob in the finals they won. Does anyone really think Hocker is running 3:28 if he has to open in 54 and take the field through 1200 in 2:47? What ifs don’t mean anything in this sport and ultimately Jakob’s championship losses are always going to be a stain on his record, but it’s obvious he’s an extremely special athlete. Even the fact he’s consistently the top ranked 1500m runner in the world while dominating the 5k is unprecedented in the modern era.
52 last lap in a 3:30 race. Jakob would never be capable of that. We're living in the era of the two-Koechs. Jakob is the past.
Why wouldn’t he be capable of running a 52 last lap in a 3:30 race? He closed a 3:26 in 54. Seems absurd. How are you so sure of that?
Jakob is the past yet has beaten multiple times the only guy who has beaten Koech this season on the diamond league. Jakob is the present, and is a constant.
