I live and train at about 4500ft. I'm training for the the mile at the Golden West Invitational which is at sea level. How does this affect the energy systems used during the race? Does it make the event more aerobic? Should I do more VO2 max training or more fast intervals?
My best event is the mile, then 3200, then 800. I'm hoping to run a 4:12. What do you think my 800 should be? I've ran a 4:17 at 5100ft with a 1:56.8 800. I'd say I'm more of a power runner than a speed runner in that I can maintain a pace pretty well, but I'm not all that fast.
