What do you think, world record holder, double Olympic Gold medalist, 4 time world champ (or more, not sure), but not quite as good as a guy who's ranked tenth in the world golf rankings. Sounds about right...

AND he's ranked behind two race car drivers.
Excuse me? How is that even a sport?

What are freakin joke. El G #8 on the list? Behind some golf scrubs? The only person that he should be behind on that list is Ronaldinho.

Mostly agree, but do you know that CNN actually had their Dr Sanjay Gupta guy do a segment on race -car drives, and the segment had other Dr's on there, I SWEAR TO GOD, saying: "race car drivers have the endurance capacity of an olympic swimmer or top marathoner." No shit. It was incredible. They claimed that they put these drivers through these physiological tests and that THAT was the conclusion they came to: that they were supreme endurance athletes equal to olympic swimmers and runners.
Un F'n Believable.
Funny that all of them are men too.
We are apalled to hear Elg is only 8th. Half of those athletes have never even contacted us. Come on!!!!!!!!What serious athlete does not use steroids. Elg was on a strict regimen. We nver have seen such discipline. We were all witnesses. His double Gold performance was chicken scraps compared to his accomplishments hear in our Balco office. he will long be remembered.
they don't even mention he's the world record holder
im from england i havent heard of the golfer thts about 4th, loads of ppl know el guerrouj are american public really that ignorant.
IF ElG actually announces his retirement today, does anyone think we'll see it in the North American sporting news?
hahahahahahaha
Precisely!!! :)
More like multiple world record holder
Yes, America is that ignorant to running. Running is different over here than in Europe.
It could just be me, but i ddint know that Ronaldinho and Rooney were unknown.
"Funny that all of them are men too."
Not really, as if all sports were truly open and practised equality very few women would flourish.

mos def. Ronaldinho is by far the greatest athlete not known by North America.
Goodness you guys complain about no coverage and then b***h that the guy was only #8. At least he's featured on the front page of msn.com. And the "ranking" of the guys didn't seem to be that important anyway, just the idea of getting them exposure.
I was pissed that there were no women at first. Then I realized, "Top Ten Unknown Women Athletes" would be an redundant. Just take the word "unknown" out and you are already probably telling readers about people they've never heard of.
As far as people not hearing of ElG in the US...gosh it seems like ElG is a far stretch since people hardly even pay attention to American runners. If you asked an average non-running American to name some famous runners, I think you'd come up with this: Michael Johnson, Marion Jones, Carl Lewis, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, FloJo, Frank Shorter
