Let me say this first: I KNOW I will get slammed for asking the question. "Who do you think you are, troll?" and "Um, I think Geb knows how to train..." will be among the nice responses. :)
But look...after his brilliant 2:06 last fall, where he faded near the end, he jumped right back into it, with a fast 15km, then the WR Half.
Now, just a few weeks after London, he is going for the 1hr record.
Where's the downtime / recovery period that one should have after a Marathon? Should he be in shape for a WR 1hr attempt just a month after London? Shouldn't he disappear from the racing scene for a few months if he wants to be the best marathoner in the world? I don't remember him being in "year round racing shape" during his 5k/10k days. Even if he runs well on that 1hr, is there a price to pay for the constant training?
AND...why has he faded in the latter stages in his 3 major marathons?
Many questions, I know. Your thoughts? I just feel that he is over-doing it these days, when a little patience could yield that huge marathon.
