I for one think it will be close, but no cigar. I just don't see Goucher popping an 8:11.48. What do you guys think?

it takes opportunities. and i am affraid groucher won't get one.
Well, I know the two-mile isn't run nearly as often as the mile or 1500, though Komen's record is a very good one. But if you took the difference between what Goucher does for the mile and what the WR is, and then doubled that, it would be a lot more than the difference between Komen's and Webb's two-mile records (are you still with me?), so the answer is...I don't think Goucher with run 8:11. Maybe 8:16 or 8:17.
goucher is running great, i want him to break the record, and really think that he can. i think he will run 8:06 and finish second. i also think that he will run 12:53 to break the a.r. in the 5000
please tell me why you think Goucher has a better chance than Webb at breaking the 5000 record....
Doesn't web have a better PR in every single event from 400 to 10000...
Correct me if i'm wrong but even in the 5000 their PRs are almost identical...
If anything Webb has a way better shot at breaking the 5000 record than Goucher
Ah, finally a voice of reason.
Goucher just doesn't have enough leg speed. Webb is a sub-3:50 miler and he was managed 4:05s back to back. Goucher can run maybe a 3:55 in top shape. Therefore going back to back maybe he could get 4:08, 4:09s. So between 8:15 on an excellent day-8:20 on a good day at Pre.
Well, webb did it last year when he ran 13:11 (?). Do you think that goucher is in that kind of shape?
goucher has a shot, he ran a hell of a 1500 today after that fall that screwed up the pack he was in. 3:38 aint bad after something like that
No one said it wasn't a bad run....it was a great 1500 for Goucher...
I'm just sick of hearing people say that Goucher has a better shot than web at breaking the 5000 record....
Web has the better shot by far...
I don't think that he will break the American Record. He does not have the wheels to do it.
I'll give Goucher under 8:20, but I don't think he'll dip much under 8:15 if at all. I think the chances of him running 8:11 are very slim.
Webb could try the remainder of his running career to break the AR in the 5000m and he will NEVER do it.
You heard it here first.
. . . and I know this because I once ran in a race in which Scott Fry false-started.
Did I ever tell you that story?
My running stories all start with: "This one time, in high school ... "
Ah, yes. The infamous Oak Harbor Invitational. Fry was so pissed that he went out and ran a 12:56 5000m on the roads.
