Letsile Tebogo, who just ran a world-leading 19.76 at the Pre Classic, is also entered in the Monaco 200m. Lyles has not lost a Diamond League 200 since 2019.

After nearly 3 months off and coming back from injury I wouldn't be worried as long as he runs around 20 flat. If he runs 19.9 and Tobogo runs 19.7 that's no reason to panic. Lyles will surely improve quite a bit from whatever he runs Friday and a bit rusty to what he will be ready to run in September.

I’d pick Tebogo to win but Lyles sub-20 which is what he’ll like to see.
Well it would be a terrible loss for Tebogo if he didn't, right?
Tebogo seems to have had the season preparation that he wanted - he's raced 11 times so far this year (all outdoors as he's been running the south hemisphere outdoor season) and he just ran 19.76 at Pre.
Lyles is coming off an injury - I'd be stunned if he could match a guy in sub 19.8 form in his first race of the season.
The other thing it's easy to overlook too - Tebogo is 22 years old. Noah Lyles is turning 28 in 10 days. Might be hard to believe but we are definitely on the home straight of Noah Lyles career here. No he's not done, he will still be a contender at Worlds, but he's not the new kid on the block anymore - this is his 9th year as a professional.
Tebogo should win this convincingly and it would be a stunner if he didn't.
If Lyles wins, I would be very surprised seeing as it's a 200 opener for him and he's getting older. Sub 20 will leave me sure that he's in a good place in training. Tebogo should win somewhat easily.
88F today, had a really good workout today. It was all sprint drills. Weights yesterday, but the day before was amazing—95F, sets of tempo 80’s. Super fun, I literally haven’t felt that good since I can’t remember when!
Not dead yet! Hopefully I’m not like those plants that bloom hard just before they die.

SG you should issue a challenge to Tyreek Hill for a showdown. We could make that happen :D
I don't know...it should be possible for Lyles to win. His first 200m last year was 19.77 into a 1.6 headwind. Granted he had more 100m tune ups before he ran the 200m.
Tebogo has found some form, but his competition has been...a bit sh*t. He hasn't run against Kenny B yet for example. His 100m results so far haven't been great.
Lyles doesn't run bad races, so I expect him to take it to Tebogo.
