How can they run a Memorial Day promotion (20 percent off) and then make it impossible to order? They also don't have a single customer service rep working this weekend, so you can't order by phone. This company constantly sends me email and and catalogs with their "offers," yet they make it impossible to buy a pair of shoes. The Web site order function is down for three straight days, yet when you call them to try to order shoes that way, you get a message that says no one will be in until Tuesday. To add insult to injury, they now require you to do a time-consuming "registration" process before you can even place an order -- and then once you spend 10 minutes filling in all the info, their Web site fails and you can't make a purchase!
Anyone else have really bad experiences with this company? I'll never buy from them again.
I had the exact same error message.
This is an unacceptable error for a online store.
Ben
I've been using RRS for years (I'm one of the original Run America Club guys, paid for it once and it lasts forever). I don't think I've ever had a serious problem with an order I've placed. What I have had problems with is the near complete elimination of stuff I want from their catalog. All of the guys stuff comes in black, brown, navy, or some other crushingly dull color (I live in the country and want bright colors so the drivers can SEE ME). Also, they tend to stock what I consider goofy stuff like running shorts with 9 inch inseams. What the heck is that? Try to buy a pair of red or yellow or bright green split shorts with even a 2 inch inseam nowadays- good luck. Oh yeah, they also stopped selling the the narrow width of the Nike Air Span Triax, my preferred basic trainer (Nike still makes them, but RRS only stocks the normal width).
I buy lots of stuff from Nashbar, Performance Bike, and Campmor these days. (The bright yellow Goretex jacket I got from Nashbar a few years ago is made by... Frank Shorter Sports. Go figure.)
Imagine the thousands of dollars in sales they must have lost this weekend!
Any co. selling over a Web site should have a Webmaster checking it at all times ESPECIALLY when a limited time promotion is running.

I'm just guessing here but I suspect they didn't cause this error on their website specifically to annoy you.
Relax. Every merchant screws up from time to time. If you stop buying from one every time they screw up, you will soon have nobody to buy from.
I wouldn't judge a company on one order.
I've been ordering from road runner sports for years and think they have some of the best customer service in the business. There people actually know running and can recommend shoes, etc, if you call them.
Plus they ship things out quickly and I usually get my shoes in a couple of days.
And since they're a partner of ours I alerted them to the problem.
Write them a note. Call up and tell them that there is an error on their site. If they don't correct your situation, then take your business elswehere. Just don't be such a cry baby vengence freak bitch. I've worked retail and I have no sympathy for unforgiving consumers who complain about every stupid little thing. Get a life and don't sweat the stupid stuff.
unfortunately most companies spend more money on advertising and less and less on training employees and tech support. Perhaps if more people hold true to the "i will never buy from them again" things will change.
I haven't had any problems with RRS. And I don't consider a web-error "unbelievably bad service"
With all due respect, wejo, as a business partner, of course you get good service. And Deja vu, you are incoherent. Billing a customer without sending the product is about as bad as a mail order business can get. You are right to recommend that the customer take their business elsewhere. So why castigate them for doing so? A good retailer would understand their action. As any serious runner can testify, getting just the right fit in a shoe can make a world of difference. It's a big deal if there is no customer service backing up their website. It certainly gives me pause. It encourages me to support my own local running store even more.
As I stated in my original post, I did call them but they have no one answering the phone until Tuesday. I don't envy the person(s) responsible because I'm sure this glitch has cost the company a lot of sales this weekend.
Also, I don't appreciate the name calling -- "bitch" when you don't even know if I'm male or female? Sounds like somebody else needs to get a life.
I agree calling someone a name like that is cheap..hiding behind the screen..I dont blame you for being pissed
So did they ever fix the problem? I was hoping to save the 20 percent off and now the promotion is over.
I've never had any trouble with Road Runner Sports...actually, they're the most reliable mail order outfit I've dealt with. Sorry for your disappointment. But to assuage your disappointment, order a peachc cheesecake from Harry & David
when I open my sports store this customer disatisfaction B.S. will disspear once in for all. I'll have gals in thongs and swimsuit top in rollar skates and guys in speedos serving customers. (whatever floats your boat) We even take requests if it takes a nun with a ruler you know "Hornet Sports" will have it while you make your selection of running shoes.
I think RRS is just fine. Don't let this one order turn you away. One time I ordered shoes from them and they gave me 3 pairs of running socks for free for no good reason. I'm sure they will make up for this problem for you Former Customer.
call the 1-800 number...you won't get that message
I did and they claimed to know nothing about the problem over the weekend -- no free socks for me
I smell a law suit. Maybe punitive bucks.
