Genuine question. I have never once seen a coach not wearing a baseball cap. Why is that?

Sun and rain protection. I think 25-50% of coaches wear spectacles

But, my observation includes indoor wear, too. I think it's worn as a signal to others, "I'm the coach"
outdoor, i wear a hat to protect from the sun.
indoor, I wear a hat because we typically leave at 6am and it saves me the 60 seconds it would take to get my hair looking presentable.
Don’t forget about the small but mighty group that wears bucket hats.
I wear a sombrero

Outside in the sun all the time. Hat block sun.
Bill Bowerman = fedora
Brooks Johnson = straw hat
hat indoors = lack of etiquette
Equipping a hat is +2 to intelligence

Which makes your head burn easier. Why does anyone that works outside for much of the day wear a hat. Now if that coach is wearing their hat in their office then it’s probably vanity.

Because you've never seen one doesn't mean there aren't any.
Mine is brightly colored so my athletes can find me quicker at meets.
Why wear backwards caps with sunglasses?
Ummm… I wear a hijab, and I don’t like your stereotypes.
In many cases it is for sun protection. on overcast days, it is them trying to have rizz.
I'm a female coach and I always wear one too. I wear a hat and sunglasses for skin protection. When you're outside as much as we are the sun exposure adds up. You will never not see me in a hat when I'm running and always outside. I also wear longer sleeves and pants even in hot conditions.

Throws coaches are the only ones allowed to wear bucket hats. It just makes sense
