Bernard Lagat
Two-Time Olympic Medalist and United States National Champion. American Record Holder.
Bernard Lagat was born in Kasabet, Kenya and grew up in the Rift Valley, famous for producing the world’s greatest distance runners. He came to the United States on an athletic scholarship and graduated from Washington State University where he became an NCAA National Champion. He gained his U.S. citizenship on May 7th, 2004 and currently resides in Tucson, Arizona.
In Sydney, Australia, he won the Olympic Bronze medal at 1,500m. Then, in Athens, Greece, he won an Olympic Silver medal. He’s running for Gold in Beijing at the 2008 Olympic Games. Bernard Lagat runs a mile in three minutes and forty-seven seconds!
