Monster race, worthy of Olympic or W.C. final.

They're all there, bar Jakob, Andreas, Nordas, and a few others.

In the 21 strong field, 14 already are sub 13:00.

Schrub (French doctor). 13:04.27 last year...and greatly improved 1500 of 3:35.84, in 2024 also. He can run as fast (or faster than) Ritz (12:56).

Young (12:45.227). Can he duplicate his monster 12:45.27 at Bislett, 12/06/2025.

So hard to make predictions as the quality of this race will be so high with so many monsters.

Unlike Oslo and Stockholm this will be a night race in Paris starting at 22:30 local time which presumably will help the runners to race their optimum speed at that time of night with cooler temperatures.

If the conditions are right, we may see an American go under 12:40...unfortunate that Fisher is not in any of these races, two is always better than one.

Absolutely. It's going to be an epic race, I think. Potentially, 10-12 runners sub 13:00 on the night. The quality of the field is monstrous.

The French duel between Gressier, Dr Schrub and Daguinos will be fascinating. These 3 have similar 1500 pb's, in the 3:34/3:35 range.

oh my god this race is going to be nuts. There's gonna be better conditions (night) for fast times, and I'm counting 8 guys coming in with sub-12:50 pbs. After seeing Young demolish them last week with a massive kick in a 12:45 race, what will the field do? I'd say maybe Kejelcha tries to make it a sub-12:40 race, but I'm pretty sure he knows Nico could break 12:40, and I'm not sure Kejelcha is ready to run that fast given Blanks beat him last week.

Do we know what the pacing is gonna be? I'd think Nico wants the AR to himself since he's only 1s off it now.

Paris is 6 hours ahead of New York City, and Eastern time, so 22.30 in Paris is 16.30 in East USA. If you have a VPN, go to France Télévision, chaine 1 or chaine 2.

Kejelcha is an incredible runner, but often cannot sprint fast enough in the last 100m. Those long legs of his are slightly at a disadvantage for turnover in home straight. Seen it in 9/10 races involving Yomif, the extreme ectomorph. Big respect for him though. His range is phenomenal. 3:47 mile, to 57:30 Half. 12:38/5000 last year. Ectomorph monster.

Young has the AR.

12:45 would be a good pace. Young gained seven seconds off of 12:52 pace so 12:45 would give him a shot at 12:40.

I’m surprised that Young and Blanks are hammering two 5000m races just a week apart.

Kejelcha closed a 7:23.6 in 12.6 for the final 100m.

If the weather's nice,we might see a few sub 12.40's. Not sure about world records,but some of them will try for it.

Isn’t Young the somewhat clear favorite given his win last week? I’d give him roughly 50% chance to win given that the fastest guys in the field don’t seem faster than in his previous win (he also showed a very good kick at GST).

I wouldn't call him the clear favorite in this race referring to Young but one of the favorites as so much can happen.

I think surprises could happen in this race including coming from people like El Bakkali, Gressier, Krop, Mehary (for the win), and even Blanks. Mehary - such a beautiful action (Hutchings refers to his style as a galloping action) but he would need to be clear before the bell, I think.

Very difficult to predict. This 5,000 meters could potentially be the deepest one in terms of times with so many runners capable of sub 12 minutes 55 seconds. 1310 is now almost mediocre for these world class runners.

Catrofe, the Uruguayan based in Spain for the past few years who was so strong this past winter with 12:57 and 27:16 on the roads could surprise many and is due to seriously revise his best of 1305 on the track. He has 3:35 speed, enough for 12:45....approx.

Grant's coming off a hamstring strain.

Now back into a final large block of training to prepare for his 10/5 double at USAs.

Doesn't need to do a 5000 to test his fitness at this stage of his career.

Will break up the training with his Pre mile race. Just like he did last year when her ran a 3:34.90/1500 @ NY Grand Prix a couple weeks before the Trials.
