What do you guys think Webb will run for 2miles this weekend? We all know what his endurance is like, and I'm sure he's reasonably speedy right now too considering he has the 1500 at the Pre classic coming up. Do you think he'll go after his AR? I hope he doesn't feel like he has to. That 2mile last year was near perfect for him since he had Boaz to run with the whole second mile.
i agree, i imagine he will run a few seconds under 8:20, maybe do enough just to be able to win it in the kick or something. then again, one thing about Webb is he will just go after things so maybe it's in his game plan to break it again but i hope he doesnt so he has something left in the tank post10000m and 2M for Pre.

I don't know why he wouldn't run faster than last year unless he's not race ready (different than sharp, I'd be surprised if he wasn't "race ready" after that 10k) or the conditions are really bad. Sub 8:10 is my prediction.

Anyway, I think if Webb goes for the record he'll run 8:09, if he doesn't I think he'll run 8:15 to win.
under ideal conditions, i wouldnt be surprised to see him run a few tics under 8:10. hopefully the weather will be good and the pace will be fast.

I expect him to be slower than last year. He went for the AR last year and this time around I don't think he's necessarily going to be shooting for a particular time, just a win. I suspect he'll win, but I predict somewhere in the 8:15 to 8:20 range.
From a usatf interview w/ Goucher:

Q: Will the pace at Pre be chasing the American record for 2 miles?
A: Absolutely, no doubt about it. It'll be paced for probably 8:06. The record right now, Webb set it last year, is 8:11. He's racing this weekend [running the 2 mile at the adidas Track Classic], so I imagine he'll be gearing for that as well and trying to knock it down. I definitely am looking at that record and hope it comes.
I think Webb will try to being the record down even further, otherwise he might not have it in a month.
