Manoel Messias just broke the previous world record for the fastest marathon split in a full Ironman by nearly 4 minutes running 2:26.50. Not a bad time after a 3.8km swim and 180km cycle!

Ironman is overrated.

What a terrifying performance from Manoel Messias! Running a marathon in 2:26:50 after swimming 3.8km and cycling 180km is truly superhuman. The old record was broken by almost 4 minutes, showing extraordinary physical strength and will. Brazil has another legend in endurance sports!
Still wasn't enough to win the race. He took 2nd in it. Ironman not allowing drafting makes the cycling part matter way more. If drafting is allowed the winner is the best runner who's good enough at the other 2 events to keep the leader in sight for the swim, and have a single burst of speed on the bike to catch the lead pack and draft off it. Banning drafting makes being the best at the other events matter
Anybody who does not run the Ironman in the Fast R3 is certainly at a disadvantage
Non sponsored athletes therefore have an advantage right now (or Puma athletes if there are any)

Until you do one.
I have to ask, was this a certified run course? Course distances in triathlons aren't always exact.
The race is absolutely certified and marathon distance. I can tell that because I live in the city and have competed in that Ironman myself.
