I'm really surprised that biological girls and young women haven't put up more protests like this over recent years. I think that if they wanted to get rid of trans athletes in their competitions, this would be the most effective way to do so, and would have more bipartisan backing as well.

It looks like the girls tried to stand with their backs to the crowd behind their appropriate podium spots and the official told them to move, probably because it would be a "bad" image in photographs. They should have refused and just stayed there. What could he do, grab a teenage girl and physically move her out of the way in front of a few thousand people? It would have caused an uproar and he would have been labeled a child molester on internet message boards.
It was a proper, peaceful protest. I don't remember anybody asking Tommy Smith and John Carlos to put their hands down in Mexico City.

You’re comparing these girls to Tommy Smith and John Carlos? Get a grip.
If I’m a college coach, I’m recruiting athletes and not activists. In regard to these girls, I would be concerned they might turn out to be malcontents.

At the CA state meet, quite the opposite reaction. The athlete in question. was embraced and celebrated by her competitors.
“Sharing the podium was nothing but an honor,” White told the Chronicle. “Although the publicity she’s been receiving has been pretty negative, I believe she deserves publicity because she’s a superstar, she’s a rockstar, she’s representing who she is.”

If I claimed to be female I could run the women’s mile wr off 6 weeks of training (after time off). It’s a clown show. Differences in biology mean men should never be allowed to compete in women’s sports
The SF chronicle article is behind a paywall, but the jist is that the actual female athletes don't seem to care too much. It's clear they are not saying this because of coercion or political correctness, they genuinely don't seem to mind nearly as much about it as the middle aged guys protesting outside the stadium.
