What do high school track coaches get paid?

3k for a head track or xc position...1500 for assistant

3200 for head coach

2200 each for two assistants

The pay is good, nothing to complain about there. It's more about how the school values the track program vs other sports. To be leveled at 60 points vs 80 points for other sports doesn't seem equitable given the caliber of our top athletes, the number of students involved, the competition schedule, and the administrative overhead. I'm curious to know whether that's just how it is in high school sports or it's more unique to our school district.

Most HS Coaches live in a van by the river.

We used to get a flat, tiny stipend that made the job more like volunteering. Ok by me because I loved the job. But the time came when I could no longer justify the expenditures from the family budget when we had a child. Too many extra things to pay for out of pocket: gas, medical, incidentals for needy kids, etc.

I make close to 7k

I make at least 17 scrips

This discussion makes me glad I didn't go into coaching like I'd once planned. I became a cardiologist instead, and now I clear close to 700 units. I get an additional 13 coupons for weekends on call, plus 43 tickets if I meet certain RVU thresholds. While life isn't all about money, it would be tough to get by in today's world on a mere 60 credits.

The bigger the ego, the teenier the peenie and lesser amount of pay.

I love the units, credits, gift cards, scrips, and points that others are earning! Good for you guys. I know a volunteer who does get paid in Visa gift cards since he has no real salary.

But generally, at my kid's school the assistant coaches make around $5000 (see posting below). The head coach, who has a ton more work, does not get paid that much more...
