Why are 5k races in Canada so expensive?

could be the fact that we have to hire police to shut down roads. check out guelph area they seem to go a reasonable job on their races.

Try the 5k at the Docks in Toronto in mid-July. If you sign up now, I think it's 25 bucks. It's the most competitive 5k in Toronto, winning times are around 14:30 usually.

for more information. That one will be very cheap and most of the guys will be around 14:30-16:00.

Those are the two races that you know will be competitive for sure.

everything in Canada is expensive....try gassing up there...I refused to get my car washed there-- they wanted $15....Canada is still under the thumb of the British...better to vacation in the USA.

I agree, I moved here to Vancouver 3 years ago. Couldn't believe how EVERYTHING costs more, its ridiculous. Plus there is 15% tax on everything you buy which makes it even worse. I figured it was just cost of living because Vancouver is such a nice city to live in, but apparently its expensive back east too??

Canada should go Euro. It will make the transision to paying for oil in Euros instead of dollars much easer..

Of course everything is expensive. It's how they pay for their "free" healthcare with it's 18 hour emergency room waits and 6 month CT scans.

By the way, their military is bankrupt as well. Socialmism. What a concept.

Oh that they WERE still under that thumb. The Dominion of Canada had an identity then. Canadians knew who they were, and Americans respected them. Yes they still have the Queen on their currency, but that is essentially because there are almost no prominent Canadians whom Canadians would recognize. The average Canadian thinks Lester Pearson is an airport and Marshall McLuhan is a school.

Actually..., the current US$/Canadian$ rate is 1/1.1259 (http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?amt=1&from=USD&to=CAD&submit=Convert) so $30 Canadian is actually $26.65 US (30/1.1259). So, you are a little bit off.
