what do you guys think about this workout? Too hard? Considering having my top high schoolers do today.
4x800 at 2m and 4x400 at 1m… 400 rest.

Not possible.
I think it is reasonable, certainly possible. They just need to really take the 400 recovery interval easy. Walk then jog.
Solid workout. Only thing of concern is rest. You normally want a 50/50 ratio of rest to running when it comes to 3200 meter/V02 max pace stuff. Might be good to ditch the lap jog and just set a time for recovery to ensure they don't race the workout. Other than that the volume is totally achievable. If they run the correct paces shouldn't take them close to all out. Normally the most 800s at 3200 pace you should do tops out at 8 with equal rest so based off that this should be good.
There are ZERO HS kids on the planet who could do 4x800 at 2 minutes with a 400 jog.

The OP clearly is saying 4x800m at 2 mile pace + 4x400m at 1 mile pace with 400m jog recoveries.
The English language is funny isn't it? The difference between two 2-letter words changes the whole idea of a workout; "at 2m and 1m" vs "in 2m and 1m". One would think you could take the context of the workout and infer I meant 2 mile and 1 mile race pace, but alas, I guess one would be wrong.
Anyway, thanks for the responses. To the person who said 1:1 ratio of rest... I figure my top guy is running these in 2:24-2:25 and 65-67 and he will be "running" the 400s in 3:00. Could just say stop for 3:00 but like the idea of keeping moving...
That sounds totally reasonable
Workout went well.
2:29, 2:25, 2:24, 2:28, 68, 67, 66, 68.
Thanks for the advice again.
