Does anyone else hate Hummer owners?

Hummer owners driver Hummers because of a need. Some of drivers don't fit into little cars or they have lots of friends who need a ride. It's not like they steal the gas.

This isn't true in my town. The few guys who have SUVs here are about 5ft 2in. It's hillarious watching these guys drive around thinking they're king shit. I drove a Hummer once and damn it was slow and no fun to drive. I think it would be fun to push it off a cliff though. Get yourself a Nissan Tundra if you want a large but fun-to-drive vehicle.

check your sources, if everyone in the US drove hummers, our oil consumption would be less than 1% different. we use oil for a lot of other things then just fueling our cars. I am not a fan of them, but i don't care if anyone drives them. How about full-size pick-up trucks? There are a lot more of them out there that get the same gas mileage as a Hummer, but no one seems to worry about that...

Also i bet you drive a 10 year old corolla, and the new Hummer, despite using more gas, has better emissions then that car do to stricter standards over the years.

If people want to drive around in a tank, then they should join the military/army. There's no need for the average person to own such a vehicle.

1) Not be an eater of fast food, or any food that you don't cook, ever.

2) Ride a bike everywhere you go.

I am not really a fan of the Humvee, but what I dislike WAY more are people who use them as a popular scapegoat. I think the criticism is often just an easy way for self-centered, childless city residents to make themselves feel superior to people with families who live in the suburbs and drive SUVs. There is often a "classist" element involved, as if the Honda Accord doesn't cost about as much as a truck.

One thing to consider, people like contractors, farmers, etc. use their trucks all the time. Believe it or not there are tons of these people out there, they drive the economy.

A telling and true story is that when when my friend's brother in law (a Manhattanite) visited his wife's hometown in southwest Missouri, he asked her why so many people drove pickups. Her answer was simply "because they use them."

I am all for conserving gas and finding alternatives to petrochemicals, but some people need to get off their high horse.

You present a very forceful articulate argument which reflects your use of reasoning abilities. I can see how your value system may have developed.

The use of plastic or electricity does not terminate ones right to criticize waste when it is observed. I am not perfect and I do my share of wasting.

The ol' "hypocrite" argument is such a tired strawman attempt.

Let's take Stone's contention here and put it in a running example. Stone here is like a lot of runners he doesn't train perfectly, but he does pretty well. Of course, on occasion, when some of his running buddies tick up the effort and he's feeling up for it, he'll push on an easy day perhaps a bit harder than he should. Now, the Hummer owners, they are like those guys that can't seem to help themselves from hammering all out every day. They've been plateaued for a long time and just can't figure out why since their training is so much "better" than everyone elses.

So Stone is criticizing them. OK, he isn't perfect... you know it, he knows it, EVERYONE knows it. But, that certainly doesn't mean he can't have a good point.

My main point is just that the hypocrite angle that some take is basically worthless (you might have something if you can demonstrate that they are being disinginuous with what they're trying to assert). Please come up with something better if you're going to try to refute someone.

H2's are simply terrible cars, anyone that owns one is a huge fool, as well as tool. i rhymed. anyway, its basically a shitty version of the chevy tahoe (they have a similar if not the same chassis) and is a very unreliable car that performs worse than most suvs in its class. it is a car people purchase solely for its looks, like the mitsubishi eclipse (not evo).

dropping 50 grand for an h2 is retarded when you get a fully loaded tahoe for 5 grand less than that. enjoy your hummers you morons.
