I wore two pairs and enjoyed them, but I switched to Hokas for my longer training and other shoes for my speed workouts. It wasn't a knock on the Topos but more my need for cushioning and support since my legs were designed by someone with a bad sense of humor.
They are quite durable, though, and I still use one as a walking shoe on light trail hikes. I'd recommend giving one a chance - they are solid and a great value since they go on sale regularly.
I haven’t trained in their running shoes but I have a pair of their hiking boots, the Trailventure, and I like them a lot. They’re well made, lightweight, and comfortable.
Yup. The Topo Specter 2. Love them!
Unstructured/soft heel cup is a blessing for those with insertional achilles issues.
I have wide feet and look for shoes with roomy toeboxes. I train and race almost exclusively in Altra and Topo shoes these days as they fit the bill, and vastly prefer Topo for any race pace work. Specter 2 is a terrific shoe, and one I'd wear from 5k to marathon. I wear an older pair for tempo runs, though I recently got a pair of Topo Ultraflys for long runs, which I rate for comfort.
I'm on my 5th pair of Phantom 3s. Great every day beater shoe
Yep. The ultraflys. I absolutely love them. I need their wide toe box and also need a bit of heel lift. I've been injury free since switching to them.
I use Altra Escalante 4s for relaxed running and Topo Cyclone 2 for quicker stuff.
I wish I had ponied up the extra 10 bucks or so for the Escalante Racer 2 though, since it seems to have a much more breathable upper.
I only wear them for trail running, Terraventure.
Cyclone 3 is a great tempo/speed day shoe
i do have some topo maps in my closet does that count?

Yes, you can come out of the closet if you like.

I've done a decent amount of grass running in the Topo Fly-lite 5 with good results. They are comfortable, light and give good ground feel due to the relatively low stack. I wear the Topo Phantom-3 for all my daily non-running activities, including gym work, but I prefer lighter, more responsive shoes for running on the roads. I still haven't found my preference for that - I'm giving the Brooks Hyperion 2 a trial right now.
Yes, Traverse. I have enjoyed them for trail running. They fit tightly from mid foot to heel. Toe box is large. I have not logged enough miles to speak to durability but they are very comfortable.
One note: I got them the same size as Mizuno and Asics.
I've enjoyed the few pair of Phantoms I've had. As alluded to, nice wider toebox, comfy heel fit, and a more responsive (as opposed to squishy) midsole.
Best brand of shoes out there in my opinion. Minimal to zero drop and the perfect toe box in my opinion.
I can’t wear Altras anymore for one reason: the toe box is wide in the wrong place. My metatarsals are the widest part of my foot, and that section of the shoe is too narrow in Altras, and gives me foot pain. Topos have the perfect shape for my feet.
I love them but they fall apart on me. The sole comes apart from the upper. It’s happened to multiple pairs.

Honestly that is kinda happening with the pair I have now. Kind of expected for them not to be super durable, just because they’re not a huge company. But yeah, that is a bummer.
The pair I have is actually very old, and they sat in my closet for years, I’ll have to buy a modern pair to see if they’ve gotten more durable
About 4 years ago, I had a case of insertional Achilles tendonitis that basically left me unable to walk for almost 9 months. Couldn't get anything to work to fix it. I had a microneedling procedure and PRP injection to fix it, which eventually worked.
In the time since, I've run pretty consistently in Topo shoes. I mix in others occasionally. As another posted noted, the lack of hard plastic heel cup is critical for me to be able to stay healthy while training. I wear the ST-5, which is closer to a racing flat. I can get about 400 miles out of a pair, and they're cheap, as long as they're actually in stock (my one gripe with Topo)
