Ethan Strand is clearly a great time trial miler, he also has the fastest 3k in collegiate history, but, as we saw yesterday, he can get out kicked in the mile. Does this set of credentials sound similar to someone else on the world stage? Jakob Ingebrigtsen also has a crazy mile/1500 personal best, but can get out kicked. Jakob also has the 3000m world record. So with Strand's cross country strength and mile speed, could he, like Jakob is on the world level, be unbeatable in the 5000m in the NCAA level? Keep in mind that only 7 people in the ENTIRE NCAA finished before him in the 10000m CROSS COUNTRY national championship... so with that elite strength and his speed, who could beat him if he moved up and raced championship 5000s?
