Probationary employees throughout the government are being laid off en mass. Many have had no poor performance issues. Thats easy to prove via their documented performance evaluation records. But the reason listed on their termination emails is due to performance issues. Why? Because even probationary employees have rights and are protected from indiscriminate firing. Why those rights? Because who would work for a government that can just fire you just because or due to political affiliation?
What we are also seeing is that some are being rehired. Why? Because things are being done without due process.
It is SHOCKING that people don’t realize or dare i even say care about these people until it hits home as we just saw in Jesses case.
And lastly, what I am going to say may be controversial but it is true.
When you treat people like trash, and uproot their lives and put them in a desperate situations for no other reason than optics and posturing, or just because, you have no idea what you may be creating. You can’t treat human beings that way and expect everyone to go off into the gentle night.
I am concerned about whats going to come from all of this. Government downsizing is not new. But this process is unprecedented. And it’s all fun and games for folks until it isn’t.
Treat people right. I don’t understand what is so difficult about that.
