I was a sprinter freshman year running mostly the 200 at 28 seconds, and a 400 at 66. I didn't take training that seriously but loved the sport. I joined XC and had 23.04 as my 5k pr averaging 8:25 ish on tempo runs. I started training more on the off season and my average tempo pace became 7:30 to sometimes even 7:15. I ran my first ever 800m time trial at 2:55 but it felt very easy. My coach had hope I would run 2:39 by the end of the season, I got really close running a 2:42 but then getting disqualified for a breakline. My last race of the season I was set on running 2:39, but my race strategy didn't play out well and it didn't help I had gotten my period (for the first time in months). I ran 2:45 and felt very disappointed, however I really have my mind set on at least 2:35 or sub 2:30 outdoor. What can I do to help shave off some time? Any advice, in any regard, would help.
