At 19 Laros has run 1:44.78 and 7:29.49. Laros will probably never run 7:17 but one could reasonably see him as a 1:43 and 7:23 runner, which would place him as possibly the one to break Hicham’s records, and if not, to at least be equipped with the tools that Jakob lacks to consistently win 1500m global championships.

maybe, maybe not. Laros will be 20 in 2 months. Never mind times, Jakob placed 4th at worlds at the age of 19 and 0 months. At 19 and 11 months he had run 3:28, and was quite clearly the 2nd best miler in the world. Jakob also ran 7:27 at 19 and several months, same as Laros is right now.

Not saying it's gonna happen here, but there is a long list of "18 year old" Africans who ran very close to their best times by 18. Maybe he improves just a little. Maybe he improves a lot. Let's wait and see.

While that is true, I think it is actually not going to be the case for Mehary. Mehary looks even younger than his listed age and I think he has some physical maturing still left.

It will be interesting to see if Laros can match Jakob's 2020 time this year (3:28.68).
If we look at their 1500m progression from the year they turned X, we get:
15: Jakob - 3.48.37, Laros - 4:00.32
16: Jakob - 3:42.44, Laros - 3:44.87
17: Jakob - 3:39.92, Laros - 3:39.46
18: Jakob - 3:31.18, Laros - 3:31.25
19: Jakob - 3:30.16, Laros - 3:29.54
20: Jakob - 3:28.68, Laros: ???

I also wonder who will be the fastest in the 1500m this season, Kessler or Laros. Kessler did 3:29.45 last year, Laros did 3:29.54, so they are (or at least were) really close in terms of capabilities.
