Interesting results indeed from the women's 800m. The B heat was slightly faster than the A heat, but both were stacked with talent. Considering where we are in the season, this event both indoors and out will be greatly entertaining.
I know little about women's running, is that Bernice in the mile on Nike really a 4:04 miler? Or is that 1500m time?
1500 or converted mile time, they must have messed up and printed the wrong time on this list that is mile for everyone else. But she'd be in the fast heat either way.
I did, obviously, but with a much faster jump off point . you would have thought she would open faster than last year, No?
It's tough to say without knowing what Whittaker's offseason looked like and what she's been doing this winter. Comparing her first 800 this year with her first 800 last year, it's worth noting that she's coming off a longer summer racing season this year than she did in the previous year. In summer 2023, her last race was the U.S. championship semifinal on July 7th. Last summer, her last race was the Olympic final on August 5th. My guess is she resumed training later this academic year for that reason.

Oops, disregard. I didn't realize Whittaker ran cross country last fall. Maybe she's just easing into the indoor season knowing that the world championships are not until September this year.
It's fun that Tanaka ran a 1,000 just for funsies 2 days ahead of NB Indoor Grand Prix.
I'm a big fan of anyone who genuinely loves to compete and she certainly falls in that category. Refreshing to see when there are so many top athletes that you will only see at 4 or 5 meets a year
