His training partner became Olympic champion last year. After the Olympics year last year, I think he will be feeling more motivated than ever. I think he will make a global final in Tokyo.

Agree with this take… I think he makes the WC team in Tokyo in the 5000m

It’s going to tough to make the 5000m. I expect Young to double this time so it will be Blanks, Nur, Wolfe and Teare, fighting for one spot.

Straight up over 5k I would have Cooper over Nico, he's a much better 1500m runner. In an unpaced 5k at USAs he SHOULD win.
Young is a far better over 10000m and the question is who wins the strength vs speed matchup. Given his age, I see more improvement from Young than Teare. If this year’s USATF is run at the same pace as last year, Young will take the second spot.

His breakthrough year wasn't 2022 when he won the US 1500m title?
I mean you could argue that, but I'd argue 2021 was a bigger breakthrough for him than 2022. 3:50i, NCAA title, 4th at OTs. 2022 was missing Nuguse and Hocker, and I was in the trenches arguing that US 1500m running was actually really strong, we just had our best guys injured. Either way, if you wanna argue 2022 was his breakout year, I think you can make it. A US title is a US title, even if the supposed 'best' guy is injured.
Regardless of whether he broke out in 2022 though, he certainly needs another breakthrough year if he wants to be on the 1500m team. Last year you had to be a top 5 guy in the world to make the 1500m team, and Teare has never shown himself to be at that level. Even if one of the top 3 is hurt, you're still gonna have to be a sub-3:30 guy to make the team (which I think he can do this year, he had the fastest 1500m of last year in a race without Jakob with his 3:32.16) over Strand (gonna be a sub-3:30 guy), Green (good shot at sub-3:30), Sahlman, Ciatti, and the rest.
For the 5k, I like his chances more (and I think he'll probably make the team if he focuses on it), but it's gonna be a tough battle between him, Blanks, Wolfe, Nur, Fisher, and maybe Nico. No one else has his 3:32 speed (and maybe 3:30 speed this year), but Blanks beat him coming off injury, and Wolfe beat him before taking a big step up to 7:30. If he's in similar shape to last year (I think he just had a really bad day), he'll be a contender, but I think you'll need sub-12:50 ability to be a lock.
