He’s never leaving prison so rehabilitation is irrelevant. I’m fine with the current laws which will give him a punishment of life without parole.

We need to draw the line, and the line is that individuals should not have the right to decide matters of life and death, and we cannot condone a system in which individuals are considered justified in the killing of others.

Laws are not perfect.
If you went back in time right now and killed baby Hitler, under the law, that would be a crime and you would be sentenced to death.
But I’m sure many would argue now that killing him would’ve been justified.
Now, I’m not saying that Mr Thompson was Hitler, but you could definitely argue that he was indirectly responsible for the deaths of many innocents.

Luigi has no right to make a decision if someone else should die. He should not have killed him, and it is not up to him to decide.

Good analogy! And in Luigi's own mind, he may have been doing exactly the same kind of thing. But I don't think we can or should accept a system wherein such decisions are left to individuals. To do so would be chaos.
