Are there any national caliber studs that were duds in h.s.? Any national qualifiers in track within the past couple years? How bad were they?

I think you need to tell us just how "really bad" you are before we can provide proper contextual examples.
400-51.8
800-1:59.0
1600-4:44
3200-10:03
5k-17:18
You've certainly got better 400 speed then plenty or marathoners - the vast majority of them actually. I don't think Bill Rogers broke 2 minutes for the half in HS (maybe ever). There are probably a few guys who didn't break 10 for 2miles but they probably didn't train in HS. The guys who may be slower than you but went on to achieve great things certainly worked their arses off later on though.
That's "really bad"??? I think you're just saying that so you can hear people tell you how you're actually pretty good.
Although few will admit it, there are plenty reading this post who would like to have had those times in HS. The first two are faster than my PRs. The last 3 are slightly slower than what I did in HS. Keep at it, and stop worrying about what others have done at your age.
There was one guy in 800 at indoor NCAA's who apparently ran slower than 2:00 because I remember the broadcaster mentioning it. I Dont know who it was though.
I'm not trying to hear "your good" or anything I'm just wondering what kind of h.s. times have still produced national caliber. And I think the 800 guy from above was like 2 yrs. ago maybe.
There may be not many national caliber guys, but there is probaly a whole army of guys with similar highschool times running 14:30-15:00 or 30:30-31:30 in the NCAA right now (I was one circa 2002).
I don't know, maybe its just me, but maybe you should consider consentrating on the 400 and 800. Those times don't really match even your other times. Sub 2 in the 800 is pretty quick for a 4:44 miler.
I have a friend that ended up running 2:14 for the marathon but he was not as fast as you in H.S. He was very durable and was able to train very hard and consistantly.
dude just enter in a mile.... with 1:58 and 10:03, you should be able to scare 4:30. i'm guessing that mile pr is from a long time ago or after injury?
brian sell was just average in high school
I know one guy who was a 10:17 3200m runner and 4:46 1600m runner in hs and is now a 4:03 indoor miler.
Also, do guys who run 9:30ish in hs count? cause if so I know another who ran 9:29 for the 3200m and is now a 28:50 10k guy
I only ran 5:01 and 10:55 for the mile and two mile in Highschool, In college I placed in the top 10 at the Division I Cross Country National Championships
PS-I'm a female
10k guy sounds like Brian Olinger, am I right?
On a completely different level, I could barely make my HS JV team in XC and could run fast enough to be entered in almost any event on the track. After HS I ran a little then in grad school ran a lot more. I got down to 2:35 for the marathon and got hurt when I was in 2:32 shape (judging by marks at other distances), with similar quality shorter marks; these are not great but I was surprised at being able to run 15-20km faster than my HS 2 miles after missing most of six years. [Note, this was several decades ago and I am male.]
Pat Porter ran like a 9:45 3200 (at altitude) and went on to run a 27:30 10k on the roads, in addition to all of his other accolades.
Jesus Solis who runs for Adams State was a 10:0X guy in HS and I think he can break 30 for 10K on the track now.
Edit: Just checked, Solis has PRs of 14:00.14 for 5K and 29:05 for 10K.

27:30? NFW.
Where did he go to college and what is his training like? How hard did he train in high school? One of my lifetime goals is to break 30 min. in the 10k and being a pretty good runner I want to know how a guy like that has gone on to do it. Please respond.
