I recently purchased a pair of the Elite 2's for my indoor and outdoor season. My question is how durable are the nonremovable titanium spikes? I don't want to run the first few meets in them only to have them ruined by indoor championship season, and then also outdoor. I have a pair of original dragonflys, would it be smart to run the early race seasons in the normal dragonflys and run more important championship races in the elites?
Really good review, thanks OP! I run 1-3 races a year (3000-10,000m) in the Dragonfly 1, and I don’t use them at all in training (I know I probably should, but I try to save my old legs and shoes). They have been used for 85km, but it’s hard to tell if they are still as good as new. Probably not. How many race kilometers do you think the Dragonflies can last? Should I upgrade to the new model, or is the difference between the spikes marginal?
I'd say the dragonflies are good for about 160km (100ish miles) before the zoomx foam really starts to lose its pop. I haven't ran in the Elites yet, but honestly they are probably not worth the upgrade. The only real difference is the carbon fiber plate but the rest of the shoe is still basically the same. The original dragonfly is definetly a tried and tested spike that works well. However this black friday sale honestly might make the elites worth it, it's currently on a 30% discount. If anybody could tell me about the nonremovable spikes that would be appreciated.
