Colorado chokes, Carlson cringy

Realistically the top of the Big 12 right now is sooooooo goooooood.

So many great athletes for both genders. Up against top individuals and teams nationally. Brutal for a conference meet

Fair Buffzzzz, but even got beat by Texas Tech. Ouch. Even worse, some really talented guys on the team had rough seasons (which I attribute to a coach that doesn't know how to train at altitude).

Impressive image there (though completely hilarious, Mrs. Carlson, since you have no idea who posts on here). Man in the arena... terrific choice (did Sean run?). Now, head down to Pearl Street, Rick George, and pick some random person and they coach Colorado to 5th in Big 12s and wouldn't have committed recruiting violations to do it.

Good news- CU returns most of the team

Bad news- lots of the top guys in the conference ALSO return

I know that successful people who feel good about themselves don't post stuff like this. It's honestly hilarious to see people fabricate beef with people they would never have an opportunity to interact with. Keep working on that depression.

Colorado finished 4th last year in the Pac-12 and they weren't going against Okenya State and 26 year old mormons

You don't have it right. What coach could possibly come in July and have an impact on that fall's xc results?

I don't like his style either, but the roster moves he made had nothing to do with 2024, rather for 2025 and beyond.

Literally Carlson did this when he went to Tennessee lol. He turned over the entire roster in one summer and got them to nationals in year 1. He couldn’t do that this time because transfers know now that he is bad news. None of his 10+ freshman men went with his, nor did his best guy in Abdala who transferred out before Carlson even left.

Also Carlson just got there.

Just got there? I don’t understand this argument. It’s not like the team is starting fresh, they all have fitness carried over from track season. This isn’t a basketball or football team that has to learn a new scheme. It’s running. He has actively made runners that were already on the team worse. Stop making excuses for a bad coach who has no idea how to coach athletes at altitude.

Hey, give them a break. They only get two years of rest and recovery, then a redshirt year to train and a medical redshirt year to train, before they begin the first of their freshman years.

Even worse is that I have never seen a XC coach commit as many runners that Carlson did at Tennessee in the two years he was there just to leave with no notice. If that wasn't a big enough red flag, I don't know what is.

At least the team has food this season.

Carlson is HORRIBLE. If he was a good coach he would’ve built up the program and developed athletes like Texas Tech, New Mexico, Oklahoma State or Arkansas!

In all seriousness, he’s pretty unpopular on here and some of it is probably self-inflicted, but there are so many coaches who should be catching more flak right now than him. He is way closer to doing it the ‘right way’ than a lot of others

The hilarity of this thread is entertaining. For “femme” and a few others to accuse a person they think they know of making these posts is the peak cringe in all this. It’s like a couple of mean girls sitting in their husband’s basement eating ice cream and screenshotting their texts and sending it to each other. Keep Boulder, Boulder. Also Sko Buffs, I think it’s tough to be the coach that walks into a program that was once at the pinnacle for college distance running. As someone has said before, you never want to be the coach that followed the hall of fame coach, you want to be the coach after the coach that followed the hall of fame coach.
