From the For the Long Run Podcast, Molly Seidel says "I want to run fast more than I want to feel good" and goes on to explain how she just pushes through the pain. No wonder she gets injured so much.

Anyone who has ran a fast at any distance from mid distance to ultras know you feel like carp during the heat of training.

But the problem with Molly is that she is not able to distinguish between normal pain and the pain she causes herself from destroying her knees
Adderall is one hell of a drug...

Listening to her "The Buildup" podcast was very eye opening. Huge Molly fan here, but if she has listened back to the episodes it was clear an injury was incoming. Hearing her talk about powering through the pain and injuries are just something you have to push through when you're a professional to make it to the next level etc, is really a problematic mindset.
Molly Seidel is incredibly unhealthy. No healthy athlete casually breaks as many bones as she does. Girls, stop looking up to people like this I beg you. There are plenty of people running fast and fueling properly.
Also that podcast is terrible, I can't stand the host.

A genetic lottery is what elite running is and rather depressing for someone who has to push themselves to breaking point to stay elite. At least the decidedly sub-elite or lower won’t even push themselves that hard because they know they aren’t going anywhere.
agreed on the host being an obnoxious boulder bro
It’s pretty obvious that the “ not feeling good” in racing that she’s referring to is the horrible discomfort you feel when you’re pushing yourself. You need to get beyond that to be competitive. She’s NOT talking about running injured.

Agreed. People hear what they want to hear, especially with these weird and nonsensical bias obsessions that people have on this forum. Most have never even seen the people in person that they feel so strongly about, let alone talked with them. The thing is, Seidel could quit running tomorrow and open a lawn service or something, and it wouldn't matter- she's an OLYMPIC bronze medalist. No one can take that away.

Did you even listen to the podcast? It was absolutely about injuries and niggles.
You only need to watch 10 seconds of the video to hear that she isn't talking about training at all, but about how it hurts to race (it does), and in order to run fast, you need to push through the discomfort (you do).

Oh sorry misunderstanding- I wasn't talking about this video/podcast posted in this thread. I was talking about from 'The Buildup' podcast she had leading into the Trials.
She would get lapped by valby and would finish 30 minutes behind chepngetich.

You don't "need" to push through knee pain to race, that is absurd is exactly what happened to Molly
I'm a really big Molly Seidel fan, but this just isn't consistent with others things she's said about listening to your body, stepping back when needed, etc. etc. That's pretty disappointing.
