i know it's too late to have any effect on whatever camera production crew is going to be shooting NYC, but given we all pretty much universally HATE the coverage we get, would anybody be willing to clearly type out what they would consider to be absolutely ideal
even if you just have one specific thing to add, i'd be interested because i honestly think it would be in our (hardcore fans of the sport) best interest to create a live document for each major race where a production crew can look at it and just blatantly steal it if they choose or at least take some advice
a few things that come to my mind
- stop explaining the race or what workouts the athletes do as if you are talking to someone who has zero knowledge of the sport and this is their introduction; it would absolutely drive viewers of any other professional sport insane
- no back stories of anybody during the race if it means you have to cut away from the live feed; we don't care!
- film the ENTIRE race; we understand it's a live broadcast and you have to show commercials, it's business that's ok, but when you upload the footage to youtube have the decency to show the entire race that you were not able to on TV/Live for understandable reasons. you can still put the same sponsor/commercials in the youtube video as were in the live broadcast, just edit the parts of the race that had to be cut back in
- to cover the pros properly you prob need like 6 cameras on bicycles with setups like what PoMan Productions has in this video (you see his rig very briefly towards the end of the race, not at all what i had been expecting but very cool) and maybe a starlink or something to broadcast the signal i don't know for sure, but most of the camera footage we get from trucks and motorcycles sucks
- i could go on, but want to hear others input
