Kejelcha looking good.
There is another runner in the lead group. I think it's Barega.
weather is 52 degrees, minimal wind, no visible rain. Perfect conditions.
Kejelcha has taken the lead at 9:34. He is followed by Barega. Why isn't a rabbit leading?
Kejelcha is in the lead at 11:20. Followed closely by a Kenyan I think. Then about 5-6 runners, including Barega. Pacers have given up?
Kejelcha is pushing past the pacers...
There is a Kenyan in white and red in the lead pack. I think it's Daniel Mateiko. Gemechu Dida of Ethiopia is also in the lead pack. They went through 5K in 13:38. That is exactly 57:31 pace (WR pace).
5K leaderboard:
1. DANIEL MATEIKO (KE)
2. GEMECHU DIDA (ET)
3. YOMIF KEJELCHA (ET)
4. ISAIA KIPKOECH LASOI (KE)
5. Selemon Barega (ET)
6. VICENT LANGAT (KE)
7. DENIS KITIYO (KE)

Is ngetich going after the WR?
4 seconds behind WR pace through 7 km for the leading men.
The women's race is down to two:
EJGAYEHU TAYE (ET) and AGNES NGETICH (KE).
Both went through 5K in 14:39. That is 1:01:50 pace! The current WR and course record is 1:02:52 by Letesenbet Gidey.

I would assume so. She and Taye are well under WR pace so far.

Side note: How many US women can run a 5K in 14:39?

Surely they cannot hold that. 1:01:50 is suicidal pace.
KONSTANCE KLOSTERHALFEN (DE) 15:37 at 5K. 8th place.
Hillary Bor was 14:03 at 5K. That is 59:18 pace. Current AR is 59:43 (by Ryan Hall).
American triathlete Morgan Pearson went through 5K in 14:04.
The men's race seems to be down to three:
Kejelcha, Mateiko, and Isaia Kipkoech Lasoi of Kenya.
They went through 10K in 27:12. They are ahead of WR pace (27:16) now.
Projected time is 57:23 WR. All three runners look very comfortable.
Now four seconds ahead of WR pace through 10K (27:12) for the leading trio men.
10K split 27:12, projected 57:23 now. Barega is dropped (at least for now)
